Spring Springs Even For Seniors!
Tuesday, April 24th, 2007Here in North Texas, spring has definitely sprung and we are enjoying the benefits of sunshine, soft breezes, and mild temperatures. Of course this is all a forerunner to those hot summer temperatures soon to be in the 90’s and 100’s.
But wait a minute! Didn’t the weather weenies just come on television announcing severe thunderstorms with high winds and possible tornadoes?
Oh, that’s right…that was last Friday. For once they were correct - we got the whole package here and then sent it merrily on its way cross country to the East Coast.
Par for the course here in Texas.
As a Senior Citizen, I certainly do enjoy the vagaries of the Texas weather. Especially since I don’t have to meet the expectations of employers who, for some unaccountable reason, expect me to be at work and functioning by a certain time. It’s great to be able to check out weather conditions and yawn, then climb back into bed to hide from inclement weather.
Around these parts, “SNOW’ is definitely a four letter word we don’t discuss. Annually we might get a sprinkling of seasonal aberration but that’s just for the kiddies to enjoy during the day off from school.
Oh, do you mean in other parts of the U.S. “S—” does not close offices, schools, and stores? Yeah, but I betcha those poor, uninformed wretches don’t understand that folks in our neck of the woods have no idea how to dress, drive, or act during actual winter conditions.
So we Texans will just enjoy our spring days and forget all about winter worries or the HOT summer that is to come.
OH OH, the Weather Weenies are predicting more severe thunderstorms, high winds, torrential rain, and possible tornados this afternoon. Yep, it’s Springtime in Texas!
