TIME TO BREAK DOWN

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

The Computer that is. One of the last steps in packing; so the deed will be done this afternoon. Believe everything is arranged now so will be back when move is accomplished and I’m back on internet.

Take care and have a wonderful day.

I SHALL RETURN SHORTLY

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

I’m signing off for now since I will be involved in moving the next few days. Not sure when I’ll have internet service again, but I shall return.

Have a great week all.

Now What Is Happening?

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I lost one of my hearing aids, then got swimmer’s ear so I couldn’t wear it anyhow.  Result:  very limited hearing ability.

Shortly after that, I accidentally dropped  my lower plate (false teeth) on the tile floor and it broke in half.    We’ve tried gluing it but that didn’t work, so I have an appt. to get new false teeth down there.    Until then, speak carefully and don’t laugh with mouth wide open.

Now, as of yesterday, the lenses fell out of my glasses frame.    The frame is totally unbroken so all I can say is, What Is Happening?     Luckily, I can still see without them, but it’s blurry.

The cost for replacing these necessities is going to strain my savings badly.  Especially with the cost of moving.

See No Evil; Hear No Evil; Speak No Evil.   Remember the three monkeys?       I  wonder how that applies to me?   It certainly is a good analogy for what is happemig.

There must be a lesson to be learned in here somewhere.   Any suggestions?

The Rainbow Bridge

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Most of us have had to say goodbye to a beloved pet, and missed it greatly. I think of an elderly neighbor who lost her cocker spaniel… it took months for her to stop grieving and she still misses it daily.

It seems to me the following was written by an unknown person who had just experienced such a loss and wrote The Rainbow Bridge to allay his or her grief. You may not believe it, but you have to admit it’s beautiful.

“The Rainbow Bridge”

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,
our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;

those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together,
but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group,
flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted,
and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

IN MEMORIAM II - God’s Garden

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

God looked around his garden

And found an empty place

He then looked down upon the earth

And saw your tired face

He put his arms around you

And lifted you to rest

God’s garden must be beautiful

He always takes the best

He knew the roads were getting rough

And the hills were hard to climb

So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered

“Peace be thine”

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you did not go alone

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home

pray

Andy’s Birthday Party

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Hi everyone, I am helping Bev with this Blog. Today it’s my birthday! So I was looking for a place to celebrate online and thought about this blog.

Rather unusual I know, but Bev will soon be back now she has her new computer equipment, so what better way to give this site a boost than to have a party here today!

Also, I have added a new theme since the original was not very clear to read with people with any vision impairment. Let me know what you think in the comments. We can easily switch back to the previous version if needed.

I am actually a youngster where I live since I live in Japan where people have some of the longest life spans in the world. My neighbors range in age from babies right up to, well I don’t know? Maybe 90 years old.

I’m actually English though and 45 years young today. Wow, it’s amazing how time flies!

Anyway, please grab yourself a nibble and help yourself to a drink. We have fresh lobster, caviar, seaweed snacks, sushi, fruits, fine wines, champagne and beers.

State your preferences in the comments and the maids and butlers will attend to you ASAP. Also, we can fly in anything exotic that we haven’t got available right now. It’s OK, it’s my birthday, no expense spared!

You want live music, dancers, pampering? No problem.

ONE: Its’ Life Changing Power.

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.

One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what’s true.
One life can make the difference,
You see, IT’S UP TO YOU!

Am I Over the Hill?

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

“Am I fooling myself, or am I really over the hill?”

This is the question asked recently by a lovely lady I met through the internet. It seems she was in a store and overheard a woman discussing her mother’s upcoming birthday party.

“Then she said that they were throwing this big bash because they didn’t know if this would be her mother’s LAST birthday….. after all, she’s going to be 65, she said!!!!! ”

Following are some of the responses she received to her question. Read them and rejoice!

“Your only as old as you feel. I’m still out mowing lawns at age 72. This is what keeps me going, as I ENJOY doing it.”

I might add that this gentleman has become a computer whiz and assists many others with his knowledge and expertise.

A Parents Wish…

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

a parent’s wish for their children during old age.

A dear internet friend and writer orovided this to me. I’m so glad to have it again. All I can say is - EVERY SENIOR SHOULD SEE IT!

(Please copy and paste into new browser window to view.)

It is not about children, it is ABOUT US! Written to our adult children asking for their attention, care and concern as we go through the aging process. It brought tears to my eyes especially after all I’ve seen researching and preparing Actively Senior. The background music by Josh Groban “You Raise Me Up” is beautiful as always/ .

I first saw this movie when it came out in Power Point in August 2005. Traffic to this site was so heavy, the server of the web hosting account suspended service 7 months later and reactivated it only after she agreed to remove the slideshow from their server. She received 6,000 emails requesting that they be notified when this very poignant and touching show became available for online viewing again.

She has since converted the show to movie format using Windows Media Player. Here it is. Please don’t let this one pass you by!

JOSH GROBAN LYRICS

“You Raise Me Up”

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.
